GPS Insight Advanced Mapping features utilize Google Earth mapping technology. If you don’t already have it installed on your computer: Download Google Earth
3D Mapping allows you to view your vehicles’ historical or current locations using Google Earth.
3D History
3D History will show the recorded locations of a vehicle or group of vehicles for a specific time period.
- Choose a vehicle or vehicle group from the Vehicle drop-down list
- Go to Mapping – 3D Mapping – 3D History
- Select a date or range of dates on the calendar
- Click History Map
You can choose to view all recorded points or only certain stops. The Show list allows you to specify stops of different lengths.

The history downloads into Google Earth which should then open on your desktop.
Click the + beside the vehicle name to see each day for the time period selected.

Click the + beside the points folder to see the report points for that day.

To see the report points on the map drag the marker on the left side of the time bar all the way to the right.

Then drag just the left part of the marker back to the left.

Click on a specific report point to see its location and details.
3D Current
3D Current Mapping shows the current location of a vehicle or group of vehicles within your fleet.
- Choose a vehicle or vehicle group from the Vehicle drop-down list
- Go to Mapping – 3D Mapping – 3D Current and click Current Map
The current locations download into Google Earth which should then open on your desktop.
You can choose to view current points only or trails of various lengths. The Show list gives you those options.
