There are three ways to dispatch a Garmin-enabled vehicle:
- Through the Closest To dashlet
- Through 2D or 3D mapping
- Through Garmin Integration
- Via SMS Text Message
Dispatch using the Closest To dashlet:
(You may need to drag the Closest To dashlet onto your Dashboard)
This dashlet enables you to search your vehicles (or a group of vehicles) for those closest to a dispatch location.
1. Select a Group of vehicles to search. (Optional)
2. Adjust the Search Proximity as needed.
3. Select your dispatch location by clicking on Vehicle, Landmark or Address. Then select the Vehicle or Landmark from the dropdown menu or enter the Address. Click Get Closest Vehicle.
4. Click on the Garmin icon to dispatch the vehicle.
Dispatch through 2D or 3D Mapping
1. Pull up the vehicle you want to dispatch on a 2D Current or 3D Current map.
2. Click once on the vehicle.
3. Click Dispatch (you may need to click on vehicle in the upper left corner to see the below view).
4. Enter the address to which you are dispatching. Click Search.
5. The pop up window will allow you to name the Location. Click Dispatch Now.
Dispatch using Garmin Integration
1. On the GPS Insight bar go to Custom, Garmin and click Open.
The Garmin-Enabled Vehicles panel lists all your Garmin vehicles.
2. Select your dispatch location by clicking on Vehicle, Landmark, Address or Lat/Long. Select the Vehicle or Landmark from the dropdown menu or enter the Address or Lat/Long coordinates. Click go.
3. This will list Garmin vehicles within a certain distance of the dispatch location. Click on the dispatch icon.
4. You may have the option of naming the location. Click Dispatch Now.
Dispatch using SMS Text Message
1. Log into account via cell phone as described here.
2. Text “gps [vehicle name] dispatch [location]” to 477-477.
- Change [vehicle name] to the vehicle you want to dispatch.
- You can also shorten ‘dispatch’ to ‘dis’.
- Change [location] to an address or landmark name. If using an address, use commas to separate location name, street address, city, state. If using a landmark, do not use commas.
