DriverID provides a way to auto-assign drivers to vehicles. The assignment is made when a driver touches a keyfob button to a reader in the vehicle (like at the start of a shift). That driver will remain associated with the vehicle until a new driver is assigned.



Any activity performed by that vehicle during the time that driver is assigned will be associated with that driver for reporting purposes. Maps will have driver information available, and alerts/messages will have the appropriate driver’s contact information as an override to the default vehicle information (e.g. email address & cell phone number for SMS). See Create Drivers and Assign Them to Vehicles for more information.

On the GPS Insight bar go to Account – Admin – Drivers and click Open.


Under Additional Driver Options in the upper right hand corner of the screen click Open to manage your driverIDs.


Click Register New DriverID.


Select the driver you are assigning to the keyfob from the Driver dropdown menu. Select the button you are registering from the DriverID dropdown menu (Each button has an identification number on it – in this example the number is 999). Click Assign DriverID.


Note: A driver can only be assigned to one DriverID button.


Now when the button is scanned into a vehicle’s reader the driver will be assigned to that vehicle.
