You now have the ability to sort report columns in some reports. Just run a report and click on the title of the column you would like sorted.

Click it once and you will have your column sorted from highest to lowest. In this case it’s the highest max speed to the lowest max speed.

DriverID provides a way to auto-assign drivers to vehicles. The assignment is made when a driver touches a keyfob button to a reader in the vehicle (like at the start of a shift). That driver will remain associated with the vehicle until a new driver is assigned.

Any activity performed by that vehicle during the time that driver is assigned will be associated with that driver for reporting purposes. Maps will have driver information available, and alerts/messages w…

Can I make the map auto-refresh?

Currently, the standard mapping does not “auto-refresh.” In order to see the vehicles’ location change, subscribe to the enhanced 2-D or 3-D mapping offered by GPS Insight. Based on the number of vehicles in the fleet, there is a reasonable upgrade charge per vehicle, per month. These fees range from $3 to $12 depending on which mapping is chosen (or both), and the number of vehicles (between 1 and 200+).

GPS Insight has made it easier to get your Dashlet maps exactly how you need them by introducing “Map Groups” to the map-aware dashlets.

You can assign each map and each dashlet a letter A, B, C, or D.

Then whenever you click on a vehicle name, the appropriate map will display that vehicle’s location.

Exclude First and Last Stop in Begin and End of Day Report

Since some customers pay their drivers when they arrive at their first job site through the time they leave their last job site, we allow for that computation now. Additionally, trivial (convenience store/gas station) stops may be excluded from the first/last stop, if they do not meet the dro…

In a few days, based on this request, we released the new GPS Insight “Fuel Consumption” report which uses real data from the vehicles’ computer to determine actual fuel (gas or diesel) consumption for all compatible vehicles (just…

You may run it for a certain group of vehicles (in this case “DAL” (Dallas)) for a range of dates (in this case January, 2008):

For example if the Map dashlet is grouped with the Location dashlet you can click on a vehicle in the Location dashlet and its location will appear in the linked Map. It’s useful when you have multiple vehicle groups that you track on multiple maps throughout the day.

Dashlets that can be added to a Map Group include: Map, Location, Alerts, Landmarks, Stop Locations, and Closest To.

Why are path lines so thin in Google Earth on Vista?

Microsoft Windows Vista is still a very new product, and as such, many of the video drivers are not 100% correct.

Some customers find that their video driver does not properly support the necessary “DirectX” calls to properly size Google Earth lines. Google has acknowledged this issue and there is a workaround.

Since the GPS Insight product gets accurate mileage data from the engine’s computer (with most vehicles), we are able to get actual odometer readings and distances direct from the vehicle.

However, we only pull an odometer roughly every 20-40 minutes. We typically get location updates every 1-2 minutes, depending on stop activity.

GPS Insight typically provides 2 minute updates of your vehicles’ location. (30 and 60 second, as well as custom plans, are available for a reasonable additional fee)

We do not know the exact route the vehicle took, therefore we do not try to guess what route connected those 2 locations, 2 minutes apart.

It is possible that the screen is not wide enough for to display the calendar correctly. We do not recommend using a screen resolution less than 1024×768 pixels. To change the screen resolution right click on the background, choose properties, and adjust the “Screen Resolution” slider. Make sure that “Color Quality” shows at least Medium or High (16 bit or 32 bit) to ensure that mapping, particularly satellite or 3-D mapping, looks correct on the computer.

You Can Attach Pictures to Stops Now in GPS Insight

Using your smart phone, you can now attach a picture from the field to any stop’s detail.

Here’s how it works:

Take a picture that you want associated with your stop (or someone else’s stop, if you’re a supervisor in the field) — this can even be a screen shot from a dispatch system, etc.
